What is tidanote?
tidanote is a lean note-taking app in the spirit of early Evernote — clean, focused and fast — rebuilt on modern tech, deliberately not the bloated all-in-one tools of today. It brings together the things that usually live in a handful of different apps:
- Daily Canvas — your day as a chronological timeline, with On This Day and one-tap Summarize Today.
- Upcoming — every checklist due date rolls up into a single task view (Overdue & Today, Next 7 Days, Someday).
- Editor — a flowing rich-text editor (not blocks) with headings, bold and italic, lists, checklists, code blocks, quotes and links.
- Notebooks & tags — the classic way to organise notes, plus an Inbox for anything not yet filed.
- Search — full-text search across every note, with OCR that reads the text inside your photos and PDFs.
- Capture — voice to note, a share sheet, quick capture, and a web clipper.
- Sync — local-first, with background sync across web, desktop and iOS.
- Export — one-click export to Markdown, HTML or ENEX, so you’re never locked in.
Better than Apple Notes
Section titled “Better than Apple Notes”tidanote is built to beat Apple Notes at the things that matter:
| Apple Notes | tidanote |
|---|---|
| Just a reverse-chronological list | Daily Canvas — your day as a timeline, with On This Day |
| Checklists stay buried inside notes | Upcoming — every due date rolls up into one view |
| Apple-only | Web, Mac & iOS |
| Painful / no export | One-click export to Markdown, HTML, ENEX |
| No web clipper | Web clipper |
| No command palette | ⌘K command palette |
| Checklists with no due dates or priority | Checklists with due dates & priority |
| Limited OCR | OCR search you control |
| No share links | Share any note with a read-only link |
| iCloud lock-in | Local-first + background sync |
See Local-first & sync and Export your data for how it delivers on that.
